Eco-Dive in Barcelona

As a conscientious traveler, in this experience, you will have the opportunity to try your scuba diving skills while supporting a non-profit with the mission of preserving the Mediterranean Sea and bringing the dive experience to all people whatever is its social and economic condition.

Barcelona is synonymous with the Mediterranean and a time-honored seafaring tradition dating back to Roman times. The city has lived on the sea and for the sea and its coastline represents a place with wide a range of resources and activities for locals and passengers. However, this relationship with the sea has caused the coastal seabed to be severely affected by the presence of large amounts of urban marine waste which has been threatening marine species and destroying the ecosystem.

On this experience you will have the chance to get to know more about the marine ecosystem of the Mediterranean Sea as well as its pollution problems, allowing you to become a more conscious tourist as well as creating a positive impact during your stay. In this unique and impactful experience, you will be accompanied by a team of experienced divers and environmentalists who are part of a non-profit organization dedicated to the marine protection of the Catalonian coast, as well as the environmental education of the social neighborhood where they are located. It is more than an environmental mission, but also an opportunity for all the less privileged young people who would be deprived of experiencing diving, to actually try it.

The program is open to everyone with any or no diving experience. An unforgettable experience for everyone who just loves the ocean – above and below the surface!

Shall I bring any own diving equipment for the Marine Conservation program?

No, the price includes all the professional diving equipment you'll need for your dive. We do recommend bringing comfortable swimwear, beach slippers, and a towel!

Do I need to speak the local language?

No, you don't need to have any previous skills in the local language! All of our programs are run entirely in English and our guides and staff are all comfortable speaking English as well! But we always encourage our participants to get acquainted with some of the most basic terms and expressions, as even just a simple "Good morning!" in the local language can be a great icebreaker to start interacting with the locals!

There are also language lessons available for volunteers. The language lessons can be booked before or on the arrival. Lessons are taught by a professional teacher and tailored to each volunteer’s current language level.

Does this experience also include food and beverages?

No, this experience will not include any food or drinks!
