In this 2 hours walk tour through the Port of Barcelona, you will have the chance, through an entertaining explanation, to discover its curiosities, history and current affairs.
The evolution and current situation of the Port of Barcelona is explained, from a socio-economic and environmental point of view, to offer the participants the data that allows them to assess, in a critical way, the importance of the port of the city, the need to have it and the impacts it produces.
During the tour, you will learn about the history of the Port of Barcelona; identify the main adversities that have affected the construction of the Port of Barcelona and the problems that derive from it; discover the socio-economic importance of the Port of Barcelona, Catalonia, and also at the state and European level; and acquire the knowledge and data that allow a critical view of the Port of Barcelona to be adopted.
You will also have the chance to meet a local team, committed to the conservation of the marine coast of Catalonia, with a vast knowledge of its ecosystems, fauna, and flora. This team works daily in the education, sensitization, and awareness of citizens and tourists about the environmental problems of this area.

Do I need to speak the local language?
No, you don't need to have any previous skills in the local language! All of our programs are run entirely in English and our guides and staff are all comfortable speaking English as well! But we always encourage our participants to get acquainted with some of the most basic terms and expressions, as even just a simple "Good morning!" in the local language can be a great icebreaker to start interacting with the locals!
There are also language lessons available for volunteers. The language lessons can be booked before or on the arrival. Lessons are taught by a professional teacher and tailored to each volunteer’s current language level.
