Social Walking Tour

Barcelona receives 16 million visitors each year and is the 4th most visited European city, and yet there are over 1,000 people who sleep on the streets of the city every night.
This Social Walking Tour is run by a social enterprise that has set about putting one of the city´s strengths (tourism) to work to solve one of the city´s social problems (homelessness).
This innovative project offers walking tours of the gothic and Raval quarters of the old town, but with a difference: the guides who are employed are or have experienced homelessness.

You can choose between our:
Classic Tour
This historic tour takes you through the city´s gothic quarter and the Raval, combining classic sites with off-the-beaten-track sites. This tour aims to link history and social history with the present day and discuss the social reality of Barcelona´s old town with unique insight from our previously homeless guides. Please remember that Barcelona is an open-air museum, and that is just how we appreciate Barcelona during our tour – from the street! 
Street Life Tour
The socially focused Street Life Tour takes you through the Raval quarter of the old town. It is a compact and small area to take in some key social institutions whilst learning how the homeless survive on the streets of Barcelona. The idea of our Street Life Tour is to take you through the daily life of a person who lives on the streets of Barcelona from where to sleep, wash, change clothes, eat, and how to look for a job. 

This is the Barcelona you won´t read about in any guide book!

Both tours are:

• in small and personal groups allowing you to connect with your guide and creating an intimate experience.
• are leisurely paced, with shady routes for sunny days
• end centrally, either on or close to the Ramblas
• pushchair/wheelchair friendly
• available in English, German and Spanish
