A journey to get to know a Sicily with its many faces, all to be discovered: places, memories, art, history, struggles and characters, people and peoples. Knowing Palermo, city multiethnic of yesterday and today, a city that for many is a temporary place of transit, but which for others represents an opportunity to feel an active part of a community. To stroll among the salt pans, a place where the salt workers keep a centuries-old tradition alive, cross the Stagnone of Marsala with a small boat to land on the island of Mozia, for a dip back in time. Stroll through the vineyards of a confiscated land at mafias and listen to the history of the Libera Terra project and stroll through the narrow streets of the village of Cefalù, a casket of Sicilian treasures and stories. Paths enriched by the stories of witnesses of knowledge, stories and traditions, from Sicilians ready to give you a story unforgettable of their land.
The entire journey will be a succession of meetings, with people and realities committed to maintaining
live the memory, in fighting for social justice, for the protection of rights, for a land more welcoming and fair. We will hear the story of brave entrepreneurs who have decided to to rebel against the racket of mafia extortions and the history of the birth of the committee Addiopizzo. We will learn about the reality of the social reuse of assets confiscated from the mafias, by visiting the cooperatives of Libera Terra and tasting some of the products in the agritourism farms Libera Terra. We will spend a morning together with Cotti in Fragranza, a laboratory of bakery products born inside the Malaspina prison in Palermo, managed by the cooperative Regenerazioni Onlus born with the aim of providing a tool for social inclusion for young prisoners through their full involvement in all business decisions.
The solidarity fees of the trip will go to support the activities of the associations that we will meet during the trip.
