Meet ImpacTrip Team: Ana Luiza Ribeiro

Ana Luiza is Brazilian and she is one of our coordinators in Portugal. She arrived in Portugal late 2022 and in April of 2023 was already part of our team! It has been almost one year, and her great energy still impacts the whole team!

Today she shares with us a bit of herself.

3 curiosities about you:

I have a Law degree, owned a bakery and was part of a BBC project that was streamed all over the world!

What’s your favourite travel time and type?

I love traveling at any time of the year, and road trips into the wild that combine nature and sports are my favourite ones.

Three things you always take with you when you travel and three things you never take with you when you travel:

I always take my cell phone, sunglasses and my instax. I never take any type of liquids (learned the hard way when I went to France once), hair dryer and my hair comb (always forget it lol).

What was your most unforgettable experience abroad and why?

Volunteering in Haiti! I got to spend time and do something different with my godmother, and the experience as a whole transformed the way I see life and my privileges.

Tell us an experience you had while volunteering:

I’m a volunteer at one of the food rescue centers and I absolutely love being part of the organization! Interacting with the beneficiaries and seeing smiles on their faces brightens my day <3

What do you like the best about volunteering?

Contribute to a positive change, explore different realities and meet new people.

What drove you to be part of ImpacTrip Team?

Combining my passion for traveling, having a positive impact on the world and empowering organizations 🙂

Can you tell us more about the work you do?

I do my best to create a perfect match between the volunteers and our partner organizations, managing everyone’s expectations before arrival and making sure the whole experience runs smoothly – and as impactful as it can be – when they’re here in Portugal.

And what has been the greatest challenge?

To make sure the volunteers never forget how pivotal their work is.

Tell us 3 tips you would give to someone who is starting a volunteer experience?

Be flexible, empathetic and committed to the cause you are willing to help!

Leave your motto:

I wouldn’t say I have a motto, but I have “perspective” tattooed on my left arm. It’s a daily reminder to look at situations from a different point of view and always take the best out of them!

Thank you for sharing your amazing story and tips for future volunteers with us! You are amazing!
