Azores

When the colonizers first arrived on these beautiful shores, they discovered a paradise of an island covered by dense forest and basalt rock beds!

Due to the geographical location and protection of Horta bay, the island Faial has played an important economic role in the Azores and has hosted many national and international companies.
The city Horta is tightly embedded into its surrounding environment. Just a few minutes away from the center, we can snorkel through a colorful marine wonderworld in the first marine reserve of the Azores or discover the rich diversity and stories of the nearby Botanical Garden. Faial island even lent its name to the endemic plant species Myrica Faya!

This one single island alone is home to a diverse set of natural wonders, including the volcano Capelino that helps us understand what these islands where like when they first emerged “from the bottom of the sea”, the beautiful and elegant
Laurissilva forest, and an enormous crater on top of an extinct volcano. And let's not forget the astonishing view of Ponto do Pico, the highest mountain of Portugal!
Many types of people have visited Faial island, from colonizers and priests to pirates and sailormen. Some of them left a smaller impact and others a greater, but one thing is certain: they must all have been struck by this island's marvelous ecosystem! A paradise on earth that should really be visited!
