Capital of Italy, it is the only city in the world to host another state within it: the Vatican City, an independent state under the sovereignty of the Pope within which there are the Vatican Museums. Here, it is possible to admire the vault of the Sistine Chapel, made by Michelangelo Buonarroti - one of the most precious works of art in the world. Rome, as well as Italy itself, is also known for the multitude of artistic and historical buildings that cover the city: for every historical monument (just think of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Pantheon), there are palaces and glimpses everywhere, and they are in themselves a small work of art. Also: did you know that Rome has an incredible number of fountains? There are well over 2,000!
