For the second year in a row, Impact Beach House, a small seafront hostel in Estoril, has received the prestigious Green Key certification, an international label that distinguishes environmentally responsible operations in the hospitality sector.
This recertification confirms compliance with over 100 rigorous criteria in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, and community engagement, securing Impact Beach House’s position as the only accommodation of its kind in the Cascais municipality to hold this seal.
“Being Green Key certified is a daily commitment from drastically reducing single-use plastics to choosing local and fair-trade suppliers. This recertification proves that sustainability is not just a trend; it’s part of our culture,” says Natacha Ribeiro, manager of Impact Beach House.
What’s New: Green Sunsets on the Coastline
To celebrate, the hostel unveils its renovated bar and a new initiative: ‘Green Sunsets’. Open daily, the bar features fair-trade coffee, regional craft beer, Portuguese sodas, artisanal ice creams, and more. Every Thursday, guests can enjoy live DJ sets, karaoke, and a variety of outdoor activities in a relaxed, eco-conscious setting.
Local residents and travelers are invited to visit the bar, explore the hostel’s circular economy practices, and enjoy a sustainable sunset just a 5-minute walk from the beach.
