Impact Beach House

Impact Beach House is a Hostel by Beach in Estoril, dedicated to Climate Action, specially focused on Ocean Conservation and Circular Economy and its the perfect choice for conscious travelers interested in surf, yoga and eco activities and workshops.

We want to show how Tourism can have a Positive Impact on communities and on the planet!
Our dream is to inspire all travelers to embark on this sustainability journey and become "Changemakers"!

Circular Economy

The concept starts with the creation of the house. All furniture and decoration at IBH are upcycled with their own unique stories. From utilizing surplus products for curtains , repairing second-hand items like chairs and tables , incorporating pieces with minor defects - bed sheets, to creating imaginative pieces - like the reception counter, the hostel is fully equipped with items that have a new life.

Ocean Conservation

In our outdoor space, there is an Eco Diving School, our partner in keeping the ocean clean in the Cascais bay. All our guests are welcome to learn how to dive and became an ocean hero. Last year, we removed over 500 kgs of ocean trash, and this year, we aim to surpass 1000 kgs.

Eco Friendly Facilities

The house features 9 rooms, including female and male dorms and private rooms with sea views, with a maximum capacity of 56 people. It also offers common areas for socializing and dining, an outdoor terrace and a garden of over 100m2, and a tower with a 180º sea view where we organize our activities and events. Our guests can also use our dive pool during dive free hours.

Surf & Yoga Vibes

Our tower with sea views sets the perfect space for yoga and meditation sessions where our clients can take care of their minds and body. We also offer Surf Classes in the beautiful Cascais beaches where you can try out your surf skills and connect with ocean.

World Cuisine

Our cooks spoil guests with "world cusine" made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. A continental breakfast is served daily and is free to all guests. Homemade lunch is served from 1 to 3pm and dinner from 7 to 9pm - our weekly set menu serves a vegetable soup, a meat/ fish or a vegetarian main course, a salad and seasonal fruit or desert. Impactful Events & Retreats

We love to have mind-liked people at IBHouse, so we regularly organize events to raise awareness and promote action for a more sustainable lifestyle and for more empathy and solidarity towards the other. The Impact Retreats are days full of activities focused on social and environmental awareness and personal development and based on values such as cooperation, respect and sustainability. Impact Beach House is also the perfect place to host your retreat.

Hostel Initiatives in Sustainability

Recycling and Upcycling

We separate all our garbage to ensure that most of it can be recycled. We even like to upcycle our ocean trash and find new use for it like lamps and vases! We go beyond with projects like biataki, that decomposes cigarette buts and we are a "Ponto Electrão" where the community can leave small appliances to be sent to recycling.

Food Waste and Composting

We hate seeing good food go to waste! Our food goes from the plate back to life with waste management, food donation and composting. All our leftover food is donated to people in need while our lovely worms turn fruit and veggie scraps into nutritious fertilizer for our garden! We are a ShareWaste point - So if you want you can leave your compost with us!

CO2 footprint

Our energy comes 100% from renewable sources and we try to minimize its consumption, having 32 solar panels. We also promote flight CO2 compensation to all our guests and we have a plan to achieve Carbon neutrality by 2030.

Eco and Social Shop

We sell lots of great little products like tote bags, notebooks, porcelain from our many social partners and also sustainable products like a picnic kit or a solid shampoo. Find your perfect and unique souvenir of Portugal and support a local cause and the enviroment!

Water and Plastic Reduction

We installed water reductors in all our taps and we challenge all our guest to have less then 5 minutes shower. We reuse water to water our plants and use ecological cleaning products to keep our Hostel clean and comfortable. We only use recycled paper and we ban the use of single plastic.

Sustainable Supply Chain

We give preference, in our sustainable procurement policy to non-profit and local suppliers and we relentless pursuit improvements in our supply chain. Come and enjoy with us a social impact ice-cream or taste to a beer that fights to protect marine life.

Promote Circular Lifestyle

We promote a circular lifestyle to our guests and offer spaces like a swap spot, that helps reduce textile waste and pollution by promoting clients to exchange clothes with clothes from other clients. Book Exchange area, so you can always have a new book at hand and a game library so you can connect with the other guests. We also promote a donation cabinet where you can leave same products that you can´t fly with like a big shampoo bottle or a shower gel. Everything for free!
